Health Insurance – GPT
For one of Germany's largest health insurance companies, we trained a specialized GPT model to answer customer inquiries with higher quality, faster response times, and reduced workload.
Over a three-month period, suggestions from a large language model (LLM) were evaluated and corrected by experts to create a high-quality training dataset. Various open-source LLMs were trained and evaluated using this data. The result is an AI that can answer insured members’ questions—from pregnancy to dental prosthetics—quickly, precisely, and in the health insurance company’s style.
The health insurance company’s internal evaluation showed that the GPT model can correctly answer over 50% of all inquiries fully automatically, makes fewer spelling mistakes compared to humans, and formulates responses with slightly more emotional language.
Knowledge Management
In collaboration with hkk and ellamind, we developed an assistant with access to all internal documents of the insurance company as well as legal frameworks to provide optimal support to employees.
Through a simple web interface, the AI assistant can answer questions, find and compare documents, create reports, and much more. It accesses both publicly available data, such as legal texts and the website, as well as the insurance company’s internal documentation, following the existing permission structure.
At its core is an open-source LLM that runs GDPR-compliant and securely on a dedicated server exclusively for hkk. Thanks to continuous batching, speculative decoding, and token streaming, the system can efficiently process a large number of simultaneous requests.
Medical History Reports in Hospitals
Our AI assistant for a hospital group automatically processes verbal medical history conversations into professional reports in real-time.
After obtaining patient consent, conversations are recorded and transcribed live. An LLM analyzes the conversation, can identify different speakers, and creates a professionally formulated report based on a template, which can be immediately reviewed by both the patient and physician.
Invoice Verification
Both german health insurance companies and the KZV (Association of Statutory Health Insurance Dentists) use our self-learning AI software to verify invoices.
Billing rules in the German healthcare system are complex, and invoices are difficult for humans to read due to detailed coding regulations. At the same time, incorrect invoices pose a high financial risk for both service providers and health insurance companies, which is why they are typically verified manually.
This regularly leads to bottlenecks and significant losses, especially during periods of high staff absences.
Our AI analyzes historical verification results and learns to independently identify problematic invoices. It automatically creates a prioritized list, allowing humans to work much more efficiently without overlooking important errors.
Assistant for (dental) practices
Our practice assistant takes notes during dental treatments upon verbal command and prepares them afterward for fast and accurate billing.
Our solution consists of a recording system in the treatment room that can be activated at any time via a button or activation word to record notes. It is designed to work reliably even in noisy environments.
The recordings are centrally collected and made available in a structured format for subsequent report creation and billing. With a configurable LLM, these can be automatically post-processed to prepare billing documentation perfectly tailored to the specific practice.
Chat & Phone Bots for Customer Service
Our bot platform botario, which we developed together with the ITSC specifically for use by health insurance companies, has now become established far beyond the statutory health insurance market and is successful as an independent company.
botario combines generative AI with company data – for smart chat and voice bots that also meet the highest data protection requirements and can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems. Whether live chat, telephony, multi-channel communication, or individual process integration: With botario, companies make their customer communication more efficient and user-friendly.
